1. Who we are

2. What we collect and why

Email address — to send your magic sign-in link and identify your account.
Age confirmation — a timestamp recording that you confirmed you are 18 or older. We do not store your date of birth.
Conversation messages — stored so your companion can continue the conversation on any device. Messages are never used for advertising.
Memories — facts your companion stores about you, up to 30 per companion. You can see, edit and delete these at any time.
Usage data — message counts and token usage per day, for cost management and your daily limit. No message content is stored in logs or analytics.
Session data — an encrypted cookie to keep you signed in for 30 days.

3. AI disclosure

Every character in Missing You AI is a fictional AI character, not a human. This is shown clearly in every chat. The AI is powered by Anthropic's Claude model. We do not share your conversations with Anthropic beyond what is required to process each message in real time.

4. How we use your data

To operate the service — sign-in, chat, memory, daily limits.
To send transactional emails — magic links only. No marketing emails without your consent.
To monitor costs and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your conversation content for advertising or profiling.

5. Who we share data with

Anthropic — your messages are processed through their API to generate replies. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Brevo (Sendinblue) — used to send magic-link emails. Your email address is shared only to deliver the link.
Cloudflare — hosts the app and database. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

6. Your rights

You can, at any time:

View the memories each companion holds about you.
Delete individual memories or all memories for a companion.
Restart a conversation (messages cleared, memories stay unless you delete them).
Delete your entire account — this deletes all your messages, memories and usage data. The deletion completes within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. If you are in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. Contact ai@missingyou.life to exercise any right.

7. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is deleted within 30 days. Usage data is aggregated and anonymised after 90 days.

8. Cookies

We use one session cookie to keep you signed in. It is HttpOnly, Secure and expires after 30 days. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Children

Missing You AI is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately.

10. Crisis support

If a conversation suggests a user may be in crisis, the app displays a card linking to findahelpline.com. We do not report crisis conversations to authorities unless legally required in your jurisdiction.

11. Changes

We will notify users by email of material changes to this policy at least 14 days before they take effect.
